We are seeking potential partners to develop a compelling collaborative research proposal for the Cancer avoidance | Cancer Grand Challenges and believe that our data and sample repository from the EULAT Eradicate GBC study could contribute significantly to a joint proposal.
Specifically, the EULAT Eradicate GBC study so far includes high-quality epidemiological, dietary and clinical data from more than 11,000 patients with gallstone disease and gallbladder cancer from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile and Peru. We have collected saliva, whole blood, serum, plasma, urine, stool and tissue samples, and have generated genome-wide genotyping, methylation, small-RNA sequencing, metabolomics, proteomics, microbiome and metallomics data.
We are particularly interested in ancestry-related disease risk/protective factors, and believe that our expertise, data and samples provide a unique opportunity to investigate, for example, why certain high-risk individuals do not develop cancer (e.g., Indigenous American women with overweight, gallstones, and poor access to the healthcare system, exposed to pesticides, metals, etc.).
We invite interested parties to contact us at EULAT_Eradicate_GBC@imbi.uni-heidelberg.de to explore collaborative opportunities and contribute to this critical research endeavor.
