The Precision-BTC Network continues to work actively to ensure gender and sex equality, both in the design of scientific research and in its own governance structures. This commitment is reflected in our community: women represent 54% of our more than 635 members, and 60% of leadership positions within the Network are held by women.
A key element of this initiative is the Gender Equality Plan (GEP). Developed by the Gender Equality Coordinators Chiara Gabbi and Erman Akkus, in collaboration with the action chair Rocio Macias, the GEP defines the guiding principles and the concrete measures needed to advance gender equality across all activities of the Network. It also establishes monitoring mechanisms to ensure continuous progress and accountability.
We invite all members to explore the Precision-BTC Network’s GEP to learn more about the Action’s objectives in relation to: i) gender and sex equality in scientific research, ii) gender balance in Action management and decision-making, iii) inclusivity and work-life balance, iv) harassment prevention, and v) fair recruitment, participation and career development.
On the occasion of the International Day of Women & Girls in Science, the Precision-BTC Network reaffirms the following commitment:
Gender and sex equality are both a scientific necessity and an ethical imperative. By integrating sex- and gender-specific considerations into research design and analysis, ensuring balanced representation in leadership, and continuously monitoring and improving our equality practices, the Precision-BTC Network aims to deliver more robust, inclusive, and impactful outcomes for patients with biliary tract cancers and for the scientific and clinical communities working in this field.
