Today, World Cholangiocarcinoma Day, represents an important global effort to raise awareness of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA)—a type of biliary tract cancer (BTC)—and to drive collaboration to progress in our understanding of this disease and how we can combat it.
We at the Precision-BTC Network would like to take this occasion reaffirm our commitment to the advancement of early detection, prevention, and treatment of biliary tract cancers, and of patient care, through international, intergenerational, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
So far, this network has awarded 14 grants to support early career researchers in the field of BTC, established a mentorship program with participants from across the globe, organized scientific meetings and training schools, and published numerous informational materials and scientific articles. In this way, we are doing our part to reduce regional disparities, increase collaboration and awareness, and provide much needed funding opportunities. But there is still work to be done!
To help us build on this success, we invite all those committed to the treatment of these rare and difficult cancers to join the network and contribute their expertise to this important mission.
