The stunning island of Mallorca, Spain will host the upcoming Monothematic Conference on Liquid Biopsy in Biliary Tract Cancer (BTC), followed by the Annual Meeting of the Precision-BTC Network.
Over 110 participants will join this scientific exchange. A total of 34 abstracts were submitted, resulting in 16 oral presentations, a dedicated abstract-based session, and 17 posters that showcase cutting-edge original research.
Day 1: Liquid Biopsy Monothematic Conference
On May 22, the spotlight will be on the latest breakthroughs in liquid biopsy for BTC, with the one-day conference titled: “Liquid Biopsy in BTC: from Bench to Bedside”.
This intensive day will feature world-leading experts and promising new voices, offering a comprehensive overview of where the field stands and where it's heading. From current diagnostic challenges to the discovery, validation, and regulatory integration of novel biomarkers, the program aims to consolidate current knowledge and to draw a roadmap towards the clinical implementation of liquid biopsy as a key tool in the diagnosis and personalized treatment of biliary tumours.
The day will include a special Independent Medical Education Session, where Dr. Florian Castet (Spain) will present: “HER2-Amplified Advanced Biliary Tract Cancer: Exploring the Utility of Liquid Biopsy for Patient Identification”. Later in the afternoon, we will hear selected talks from top-ranked abstracts, culminating in a Keynote Lecture by Dr. Klaus Pantel (Germany) titled: “Translating Liquid Biopsies into Clinics: Lessons Learnt from Other Cancers”. The day concludes with a focused session on biomarkers of therapy response, diving into both current capabilities and future directions.
Day 2: Precision-BTC Annual Meeting
On May 23, attention turns to the Annual Action Conference of the COST Action Precision-BTC Network. The remaining five Working Groups (WG1: Epidemiological heterogeneity in Europe; WG3: Personalised treatment strategies for BTC patients; WG4: Patient-centered support and advocacy; WG5: Artificial Intelligence applications in BTC; WG6: Drug development using preclinical models) will present updates on collaborative projects developed over the past year.
The NextGen BTC group – the early-career group of the Precision-BTC Network for researchers, clinicians, and innovators – will be actively engaged throughout the event. As many young investigators are expected to attend, the group is preparing a range of activities designed to foster scientific exchange and peer-to-peer networking. If you're an early-career participant, keep an eye out for dedicated NextGen BTC activities over both days – this is your chance to connect, share, and grow within the BTC community.
We look forward to meeting you in Mallorca!
