The COST Disease Catalogue—containing data and samples from over 300,000 individuals—is a tremendous tool for research collaboration.
Catalogue coordinator Dr Martin Cornillet (WG1 Co-leader) has assembled, with the help of numerous collaborators from within the Precision-BTC Network, a catalogue compiling data and samples from 15 European institutions spanning 10 countries and representing over 300,000 individuals. The data available are manifold, including general health record data, comorbidities, tumour staging, outcomes, CT/MRI, MRCP/ERCP, and more. Likewise, samples include serum, plasma, bile, cytobrush, feces, liver biopsies (tumour and non-tumour), PBMC, and blood.
The goal of this impressive catalogue is to facilitate research collaboration in two ways. First, by providing a brief overview of samples and data types available. Second, by facilitating contact as well as ethics information to those interested. How does it work? Contributors are invited to update the live excel document, quickly filling out summary information for catalogue users. For their part, users may extract this data for their purposes, in addition to being able to contact contributors for further information.
Version 1 of this catalogue has already been circulated to COST Action Precision-BTC Network members, with Version 2 expected for 2025.
